Here’s the tinkling, minimalist, stacked remix of Missy Elliot’s newest offering “I’m Better” featuring Eve, Lil Kim and the Diamond Princess herself, Trina.

In January, Missy Elliot quietly dropped a music video for her latest single, “I’m Better—” a sleek, slowed-down banger that proves what we have all known for quite some time: Missy Elliott is the shit and please don’t ever forget it. There’s no Missy on this remix, however, just some voices you probably haven’t heard in a while. Eve, Trina and Lil Kim add their two cents reinforcing the message that yes, indeed, like Missy, they are still here and they’re doing just fine.

Rap-Up reminded me that 21 years ago, Missy used her powers to bring together another insane assemblage of women, including Angie Martinez, Da Brat, Lil Kim and Left Eye, for her “Not Tonight (Ladies Night)” remix, a true bop that will honestly never get old.

Remind yourself further of Missy’s greatness by taking a gander at this quote from Rachel Kaadzi Ghansah’s profile of the artist in the June issue of Elle.

“One thing I won’t do is compromise.” She takes another sip of juice and thinks for a moment. “I will never do something based on what everybody else is telling me to do. And have to kick myself in the ass every night,” she says, drawing her head back and shaking it.

“Nah. I have to make sure that it’s right,” she continues. “I’ve been through so many stumbling blocks to build a legacy, so I wouldn’t want to do something just to fit in. Because I never fit in. So….”

Once again — no news on whether or not or when that album that we’ve been waiting for is coming, but hopefully soon. We could all use something nice like that, right?
