Melissa McCarthy Gamely Tries Some Espionage in This Spy Trailer

At long last, we get a peek at Paul Feig’s Spy, starring Melissa McCarthy as an unlikely (and possibly unqualified?) James Bond. On the basis of this new red-band trailer, I continue to nurse the hope that it will combine the charm of Bridesmaids with zany Archer-like shenanigans.

The trailer comes via Vulture. Besides McCarthy (who looks downright sharp in much of this footage), you’ll see the familiar faces of Jason Statham, Allison Janney, Jude Law and (praise be) Rose Byrne as, apparently, a vampy villain. Oh, and a small appearance by Chummy! Don’t let me down, guys:
