FKA twigs is on the May cover of Allure, and the style inspiration was something else: Siouxsie Sioux in full tension, complete with the ever-popular udjat eyeliner, a goth staple, and a woven dress that looks like mesh for a mummy.

Accordingly, for her behind-the-scenes cover video, the magazine threw on Siouxsie and the Banshees’s “Spellbound” and let the full 1986 filter rock. It’s compelling because twigs is a dream when she moves, a dancer to the very end, but also because it’s fun to imagine the kind of art she would have made at the height of punk rock London, fully clad in some kind of space-witch jumpsuit Pam Hogg made in latex, doing performance art with switchblades and flanger effects pedals. Watch above for crafty, cable-access style video handiwork and twigs whipping out her best vogue poses, as well as shots closer to her eyeballs and teeth than you probably ever expected to be.
