Netflix has released a teaser trailer for the second season of 13 Reasons Why, in which it announced that the controversial, long-awaited series will premiere on May 18.

Based on the YA novel of the same name by Jay Asher, the show focuses on the death of Hannah, a high school student who left behind 13 cassette tapes meant to explain why she killed herself. According to Netflix, this season finds Hannah’s parents suing Liberty High School, and “a series of ominous Polaroids lead Clay and his classmates to uncover a sickening secret and a conspiracy to cover it up.” Indeed, this is foreshadowed in the trailer, which features a montage of swirling photos set to Depeche Mode’s “I Feel You.”

Season 2 is executive produced by Selena Gomez, as well as Mandy Teefey, Kristel Laiblin, Joy Gorman Wettels, Michael Sugar and Steve Golin.
