A Remake of The Craft Will Be Spawned

EntertainmentMovies

Almost 23 years after it was originally released, The Craft is getting a remake.

Though a reboot from director Leigh Janiak was discussed in 2015, this is not that. According to Bloody Disgusting, Janiak isn’t attached to the project, and it won’t be set 20 years in the future like it was originally going to be.

Instead, it will just be a…remake, to be produced by Blumhouse. A snippet of info reportedly attached to the Production Weekly listing says the film will be directed by Zoe Lister-Jones; she’ll also be co-writing the script along with Daniel Casey, who was originally set to rewrite Leigh Janiak’s remake. There’s also a brief description:

“A remake of the 1996 supernatural teen thriller. When starting at a new school, Hannah befriends Tabby, Lourdes, and Frankie & quickly becomes the fourth member of their Clique. Hannah soon learns that she somehow brings great power to the quartet.”

So the characters’ names have been changed, but it’s unclear what else will be the same, or not. We’ll probably find out more before it starts shooting in July.
