Carly Rae Jepsen to Become a Pink Lady, Drop Out of Beauty School in Grease: Live

Entertainment

The “live-musical-as-a-television-event” thing continues to happen, and now that American families have gobbled up The Sound of Music, Peter Pan, and The Wiz, FOX is bringing another classic to the small screen: Grease. And Carly Rae Jepsen’s just been cast as Frenchy.

Mashable reports that the musical will air on January 31st 2016 and features several other high-profile cast members aside from Jepsen—who’s just come off a successful Broadway run in Cinderella. Julianne Hough will play the role of Sandy, Aaron Tveit (best known for Next to Normal) as Danny, and Vanessa Hudgens as Rizzo.

While the live version will likely be faithful to the original, it’ll also feature one notable addition: Mashable reports that Jessie J will kickoff the festivities with the credits track “Grease (Is the Word).”

Grease is great, but next up, let’s try something like Rocky Horror. What’s Eddie Redmayne doing? Think he’d play Frank-N-Furter?
