Constance Wu Might Star in a Rom-Com About Getting Double Impregnated

Crazy Rich Asians star Constance Wu is in talks for a new rom-com about “a charmingly chaotic woman who has to get her life together when she becomes pregnant with two babies from two different men,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Terrifying premise aside, the unnamed series will be directed by GLOW’s Kimmy Gatewood (who played one half of the Beatdown Biddies) and executive produced by Elizabeth Banks. The screenplay was written by Savion Einstein.

This new project is being billed as a rom-com, but I have a much easier time categorizing it as a psychological thriller, if not a straight up horror flick. Getting double-knocked up by two different dudes sounds like the beginning of the end for a person’s sanity, fictional or not. Maybe one of the babies will eat the other in utero, and the hilarity will be trying to discern who the remaining father is? I think I don’t understand what a rom-com is.

Wu first rose to prominence in ABC’s Fresh Off the Boat, but became a household name as Rachel Chu in Crazy Rich Asians, which grossed $237 million worldwide and earned Wu a Golden Globe nomination. If she can pull off being “charmingly chaotic” while dealing with that many hormones and men, she deserves an Oscar.
