Dakota Johnson Dances for the Devil In the Suspiria Trailer

EntertainmentMovies

The full trailer for Call Me By Your Name director Luca Guadagnino’s new Suspiria movie is finally here and dancing has never looked more terrifying.

The movie is a remake of Italian director Dario Argento’s 1977 movie of the same name, itself based partly on Thomas De Quincey’s essay “Suspiria de Profundis.” Dakota Johnson plays Susie Bannion, a young dance student who arrives at a famous dance academy in Germany to hone her craft among conveniently missing students and weird instructors who may or may not be cavorting with the Devil. You know, just your typical college experience!

Where Argento’s take was all done in campy technicolor, including buckets and buckets of fire engine red blood, Guadagnino is building a creepy, tense gray-scale nightmare here, and the dance choreography in question is giving me Satanic Pina Bausch vibes.

Suspiria comes out October 26.
