Dumb Fox News Bashes Hillary's Playlist, Is Bad at Music Criticism

Entertainment

Fox & Friends, deeply unfunny despite its best efforts, recently proved its propensity for selective truth extends to music criticism, as Elisabeth Hasselbeck chose one verse from an American Authors song—”I’m a little bit jealous/ I’m a little bit slow/ I’m a little bit hurtful/ and I don’t wanna let it go”—and used it to characterize Hillary Clinton’s entire Spotify playlist.

God, but there are so many other things wrong with the playlist, and so much low-hanging fruit to mine. It’s instructive, predictable and obnoxious that Hasselback went straight for the most obvious, Clinton-stereotype-upholding option and let it rock. “Did she check the lyrics beforehand?” Hasselbeck asks. “A lot of her favorite songs offering up themes of jealousy, a lack of strong convictions and, eugh, even a failed marriage.” She then tries to mock Hillary for being out of touch because “all of the songs are released since 1999, so at least they’re more current songs,” referring to that one J.Lo song from On the 6, which is funny because Hasselbeck’s jokes are from 1995. Seriously, Clinton affair jabs? So, so banal.

Again, there are so many things you could say to make fun of this mostly very bad playlist. But if we’re going for easy, low blows, allow me to engage:

OOH, FOX NEWS IS EMPLOYING AN AUSTRALIAN BAND! SO UNAMURRICAN AND WHAT IS THAT BAND NAME, DO YOU PEOPLE ADVOCATE FOR KINGS? DO YOU LOVE BIG GOVERNMENT? YOU TRAITORS! LOL! Etc.

See, this is idiotic.
