Idris Elba, who plays a DJ in real life sometimes, will play one on television soon in an upcoming project for Netflix.
According to Variety, the eight-episode comedy series Turn Up Charlie stars Elba as “a struggling DJ and eternal bachelor, who’s given a final chance at success when he reluctantly becomes a manny to his famous best friend’s problem-child daughter.” Is this another one of those manfish-out-of-water storylines in which a man assumes the duties of child-rearing (yikes!) and, lo and behold, fumbles and bumbles, tripping over strollers and mistaking the breast milk in the fridge for adult milk?
Sorry to spoil, but Elba and the horrible daughter are likely to bond and develop an unexpected friendship. You might think he’s too much of a zaddy to play a manny 😜, but I guess it is possible for the two to coexist in one person.
