I Hate How Targeted I Feel by King Daddy Over Here

Netflix has just dropped a trailer for Outlaw King, the upcoming lavish historical epic in which Chris Pine plays Robert the Bruce. Judging by his perfectly grizzled appearance, his transformation into sex symbol for millennial moms is complete.

For those who haven’t spent all summer weirdly deep into medieval history of the British Isles, Deadline described the movie as such:

Outlaw King follows the untold, true story of Robert the Bruce, who transforms from defeated nobleman to outlaw hero during the oppressive occupation of medieval Scotland by Edward I of England. Despite grave consequences, Robert seizes the Scottish crown and rallies an impassioned group of men to fight back against the mighty army of the tyrannical King and his volatile son, the Prince of Wales. Filmed in Scotland, the project was made with the full support of Creative Scotland and the Scottish government.

Sure, the movie looks like basically Braveheart crossed with Robin Hood, with strong atmospheric indications this will yet again be a story about the Middle Ages deployed in the service of American ideals of individual freedom.

Nevertheless, my loins inform me that I am now a Scottish nationalist! Long live Robert the Bruce, I guess!
