I Might Be the Only Person Excited About the Pretty Little Liars Spinoff

Entertainment

Sometime in 2019, the spin-off Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists will premiere, with more teens and more murders, set in another “seemingly perfect town” where the weather is temperate year-round and everyone has a wide-ranging collection of trench coats. I cannot wait.

The spin-off, picked up at Freeform, is based on a book by Sara Shepard, the author of the Pretty Little Liars series, and this is the second spin-off from the PLL universe. The first, of course, was Ravenswood, which was very bad. This might not be better, but I’m willing to experience it.

PLL: The Perfectionists is set in Beacon Heights, a seemingly perfect town, and revolves around a group of three college friends who struggle with the stress of being overachievers. In the aftermath of the town’s first murder, each Perfectionist hides behind a secret, a lie and an alibi.

Helping these college friends through the difficult-to-navigate terrain of dealing with their first MURDER are some old friends from Rosewood:

Reprising their roles are Sasha Pieterse, as Alison DiLaurentis, the former queen bee whose mysterious disappearance rocked the small town of Rosewood; and Janel Parrish, as Mona Vanderwaal, Hanna Marin’s best friend who was unmasked as the mysterious tormentor “A” at the end of the show’s second season and ultimately beat uber-villain A.D. at her own game.

Never mind the fact that in the actual show, Ali and Mona were not actualy friends? They were like two lesser characters who were pushed together because of their other friends (the Liars); furthermore they had little to no chemistry and it is a real freakin’ STRETCH here to imagine both of them being friendly enough to usher three young teens through the particular minefield of hiding your secrets, lies, and alibis, while keeping a story straight!?

Anyway, I’ll watch.
