If Serena Williams Has to Sing for You to Get Checked for Breast Cancer, She Will Do It

Serena Williams has chipped in for the I Touch Myself Project, a breast cancer awareness project for which women go topless and sing part of the Divinyls hit “I Touch Myself”: a tribute to Divinyls lead singer Chrissy Amphlett, who passed away in 2013 from breast cancer. Williams captions the video:

Yes, this put me out of my comfort zone, but I wanted to do it because it’s an issue that affects all women of all colors, all around the world. Early detection is key - it saves so many lives. I just hope this helps to remind women of that.

The project invites you to gram yourself with the tag #ITouchMyselfProject. Breast Cancer Awareness Month starts Monday. Get that shit checked!!

I can’t support Serena anymore. She came out the other week and talked about how her daughter won’t be having a first birthday party because she’s suddenly deciding to be a Jehovah’s Witness. She was raised “around” it but has never been all the way in. Now it’s conenient for her to pick it up when it suits her. Mind you I was raised in it, and when you’re all the way in, you don’t get to be friends with Beyoncé, you don’t get to marry a non-believer, and if that beautiful baby gets sick you aren’t allowed to give her a blood transfusion.
