Jessie Ware Kills It, Yet Again, With Cover of Labrinth's "Jealous"

Entertainment

In an age where lukewarm live efforts and artistic renown are not mutually exclusive, Jessie Ware is a rare bright spot; each performance comes gift-wrapped in a cloud of raw, shimmering vocal perfection, and the British singer’s recent trip to BBC’s Live Lounge proves no exception. (If you haven’t checked out her most recent album, Tough Love, do that right now.)

In the clip below, Ware tightens up fellow Brit Labrinth’s “Jealous” (check out the lovely original here, featuring some excellent sweater game by Timothy McKenzie), dropping in some signature low-key flourishes to transform the mournful piano ballad into a smooth, noodley sex jam. Pay special attention towards the end, when she dips into Chaka Khan’s “Through The Fire.” I could listen all day, and probably will.
