On the Starz series Power, which just completed its fifth season in familiar dramatic fashion, La La Anthony plays a character who’s perpetually ride or die. Omari Hardwick leads the show, as a businessman slash drug kingpin, James “Ghost” St. Patrick, who constantly fails in his attempts to rehabilitate his life and stop doing illegal activities like murder. Naturi Naughton stars as his wife/accomplice Tasha. La La Anthony is LaKeisha Grant, the ever-loyal best friend who’s increasingly asked to compromise her integrity and assets for the family business. In Season 5, she continues to build a nebulous relationship with Ghost’s friend and crime-time partner Tommy (Joseph Sikora), which only entangles Keisha more and sets up an intriguing, potentially fatal plot line for Season 6.
“I think the dumbest thing that Keisha ever did, she asked Tommy, ‘I know you moved weight, but you ain’t never kill nobody, right?’ It’s just like, dumb, dumb, dumb! He kills everybody,” Anthony said in an interview with Jezebel. “I am very skeptical about Keisha’s survival on Power because she is so naive.”
This summer, Anthony released a documentary she executive-produced about black market butt augmentation, Killer Curves: Bodies to Die For. “It was an amazing experience, shedding light on this underground world of shots and what women are doing to have these great curves. They’re risking their lives to go the cheaper black market route,” she said. “I always wanted to make sure that people understood this documentary wasn’t about plastic surgery. This is about illegal things that people do to change their bodies. If you decide to have plastic surgery, that’s your choice. But going the illegal route can really lead to some dangerous things and even death.”
