Laura Dern May Be the Latest Addition to Greta Gerwig's Little Women Adaptation

EntertainmentMovies

Laura Dern is reportedly in talks to pile onto Greta Gerwig’s upcoming adaptation of Little Women. Yes, this is the third Little Women adaptation either recently released or currently in the works, but it’s certainly the most star-studded.

That news comes via The Hollywood Reporter. She would join Saoirse Ronan, Timothee Chalamet, Emma Stone, Florence Pugh, James Norton, and last but certainly not least Meryl Streep, who is playing Aunt March, according to the Los Angeles Times. That presumably means Dern is likely up for the role of Marmee. MOM!!!!!

This year marks the 150th anniversary of the publication of Little Women, and hence this comes hard on the heels of Masterpiece/BBC’s beautiful, flower-crowned, Anthropologie-ready version, as well as a contemporary take starring Lea Thompson that’s due out September 28. It’s the work of a company called Pinnacle Peak, which describes itself as “an Arizona-based film company bringing inspirational movies to theaters across North America.” I thought I caught some evangelical vibes:

So, for those keeping score at home, Gerwig is the likeliest contender to dethrone Gillian Armstrong’s beloved 1994 adaptation—if anything possibly could. No offense to an extremely promising array of names attached, but I have my doubts!
