Let Carly Rae Jepsen's Pick-Me-Up Jam Heal Your Stone Heart

Since you’re not doing anything productive right now, come let’s sing our hearts out to this new Carly Rae Jepsen song from her upcoming album E•MO•TION. It’s a chirpy jam about rushing to “hi-jack” someone in their moment of need and has a thump of a beat that feels its own urgency.

“Making the Most of the Night” is Carly urging you to chill and break out of that funky mood, with motivational speak that’s a cool burst of optimism in this dismal world. “I’ll run to your side when your heart is bleeding/ I’m coming to get ya, to get ya, to get ya,” she sings. The lyrics have Sia’s empathetic mark all over them.

Am I crazy or are both Slate and Gawker in cahoots with Carly Rae Jepsen this year? I keep seeing these posts extolling how great her every new single is, like they discovered her ass or something. “Why I REALLY REALLY REALLY Like You is Perfect.” or “The New Carly Rae Jepsen Song is 60% BETTER Than the Last One!” It seems contrived, almost. Shit ain’t THAT catchy. And her chart history proves it. What gives?
