Lupita Nyong'o Will Fulfill Our Dream of Her Playing an Assassin

John Woo is directing an English-language remake of his classic 1989 Hong Kong action movie, The Killer, and Lupita Nyong’o might just star in the movie’s titular role. Deadline reports that Nyong’o is in talks to play the lead character, an assassin who gets back in the game for one last hit after they realize they may have blinded a woman by accident years ago.

As usual, Nyong’o can do no wrong (see her work in Black Panther, 12 Years a Slave, and TWO Star Wars films), and this role in The Killer would undoubtedly be a big win for Woo, who has been talking about remaking his movie for a few years now. Deadline describes the original as “a touchstone picture, one widely emulated for its balletic, stylized violent scenes,” with the upcoming remake featuring “espionage with extraordinary stunts to capture the feel of the original.” Who wouldn’t want to see Lupita do all that? I have a feeling she’ll kill it.
