My Best Friend's TV Show: Dermot Mulroney and Julia Roberts Will Reunite for Amazon

We’ll soon have a show on Amazon Prime Video where Julia Roberts and Dermot Mulroney finally hookup. Surprise—they’re unhappy.

Deadline reports that Mulroney will play Roberts’ boyfriend in a recurring guest star role on new series Homecoming, and unfortunately things aren’t really working out. Probably what you would expect if you watched My Best Friend’s Wedding and realized this dork wants his wife to quit school and follow him from boring baseball game to boring baseball game all over the country. Okay, they’re not the same characters, but you know it would never have worked out!

Homecoming is based on a Gimlet media podcast of the same name, created by Eli Horowitz and Micah Bloomberg. Roberts plays Heidi, who works at a secret government facility. No, she doesn’t fall in love with a sexy fish god, but her work does steal her attention away from her sulky boo, Anthony/Mulroney. The story is also more of a “psychological thriller” than a rom com, but anyone who says you can’t fall in love while your head is being messed with hasn’t gone on a Tinder date in awhile.
