Netflix CEO Says 'Nobody Has to Watch' 13 Reasons Why, Which…Fair!

Entertainment

Netflix has drawn a lot of criticism for its decision to renew 13 Reasons Why, a show about a dead girl who makes mix tapes for her enemies.

Our own Maria Sherman described the decision as yet another chance “to fuck up,” citing how poorly 13 Reasons Why has handled storylines about sensitive subject matter like suicide and sexual assault in past seasons.

The Parents Television Council, meanwhile, went full sans hinge with their condemnation, saying that Netflix “already potentially has the blood of children on their hands.”

That’s…a lot! But Netflix’s CEO is standing by the show.

13 Reasons Why has been enormously popular and successful. It’s engaging content,” said Hastings during a recent shareholder meeting, per Deadline. “It is controversial. But nobody has to watch it.”

Honestly? Fair. Here’s to not watching another season of that show I don’t watch.
