Sad news: Solange Knowles will not have the opportunity to follow in her sister’s footsteps and turn Coachella into…Solchella? Does that work? I do not think it does. Regardless, it’s not happening.

On Sunday, Coachella organizers announced on Twitter that Solange pulled out of this year’s festival, citing “major production delays.” Coachella 2019 is set to take place on April 12-14 and April 19-21, so this is pretty last minute:

Solange was one of the two Saturdays’ headliners, along with Tame Impala, Kid Cudi, and Weezer. (Also: Billie Eilish, Maggie Rogers, Mac DeMarco.)

As of Sunday night, there was no public word from Solange or her team, and Coachella provided no further information re: the cancellation.

It’s a bummer the hypebeasts won’t get to see her set, since Solange tends to put on a powerful show, though if production issues were screwing that up, I can see why she pulled out. Though I’d be into a stripped-down, lo-fi version of Cranes in the Sky…
