Some Good Facial Expressions From The Bachelor's Gross 'After the Final Rose' Episode

Last night, The Bachelor managed to rob two additional hours from my life with an extra “After the Final Rose” episode. This happened because on Monday night, ABC decided it would be better to show us a woman sobbing for 30 minutes straight.

That woman, Becca Kufrin, was eventually announced as the next Bachelorette—the least everyone could do, really. But first, in last night’s episode, we finally discovered what happened after Arie, an odd man with the demeanor and emotional intelligence of a stork, broke off his engagement with Becca and decided to give it a go with Lauren. Guess what—she felt fine about it!

He tells her he is a “thousand percent” over Becca and that proposing to her was a “mistake.” To Lauren, age 25, his complete lack of empathy or emotional attachment towards his ex-fiancée is somehow not a HUGE RED FLAG and she forgives him for breaking up with her on national television. We also discover that Arie initially reached out to Lauren on Instagram (nice) while he was still with Becca, which is, again, awful. So, does Lauren want to give it another shot? “Duh!” she tells Arie, and then they do this:

Murder me!!!!!

Anyway, the only positive thing about The Bachelor at this point is the mild catharsis that comes from watching a shitty guy get booed on national television, and from knowing I will never have to watch him smush his cracked lips on another woman for the rest of my life.

Here’s Becca inexplicably forgiving this man, in front of a woman who is having none of it:

(Arie, by the way, explained his very public breakup method with these nonsensical words: “I think that the reason why I did it in the way that I did it was because I wanted everyone here and at home to know that this was on me. And it wasn’t on you.” What?)

Here’s Bekah M. crying/cringing (?) when Lauren comes onstage to greet Arie:

“I can’t imagine what’s going through your head right now,” Chris Harrison says to Lauren when she comes out.

“Yeah, me either,” she replies, smiling.

Lauren, who hasn’t watched the finale, believes Arie “couldn’t have gone about it in a more respectful way, and I am really proud of him.”

Arie then proposes to Lauren while his ex-fiancée is backstage. Bekah, who has been a real ham—honestly, as an aside, I’d really love to see what 22-year-old Bekah with a K would do with a harem of male suitors—does this:
