Taylor Swift Interacts With Taylor Swift Again in Another Taylor Swift Music Video

Taylor Swift continues her mission to remind us that she is absolutely relevant and creative, with the release of her music video for “Ready For It,” a song that afflicts us with stoic rap verses.

Directed by Joseph Kahn, the video features a melange of sci-fi imagery as Swift interacts with an android/cyborg duplicate—perhaps commentary on the perception of her as a performative, programmable bot. This Taylor Swift is robotic and cripplingly powerful, yes, but in the end, capable of feeling. Similar to her video for “Look What You Made Me Do,” this gives a sense that there is always more than one Taylor Swift. The screenshots below tell the story.

Meh. The only track I’ve heard that I like so far is Gorgeous and that’s because it’s reminiscent of Blank Space and the other songs from 1989.
