The Evolution of Bhad Bhabie and Iggy Azalea's Unseasoned Beef

Entertainment

On first glance, you’d be right to think rappers Bhad Bhabie (real name Danielle Bregoli) and Iggy Azalea—probably the most known white women in hip-hop—were attempting to dethrone one another from some nonexistent top spot with their rap beef. Somehow, Bregoli, once known only as the “Cash me ousside” girl and a Dr. Phil delinquent, is still only 15 years old, and somehow Iggy Azalea is still making music and new enemies.

Let’s unwrap this white-on-white beef.

January 18, 2018: Bhad Bhabie drops a remix of her surprisingly excellent single “Hi Bich,” this time featuring rappers Rich the Kid, MadeinTYO and the queen, Asian Doll. Nothing strange here! Except she adds in this verse:

“Bitch don’t compare me to Iggy/That old hoe is washed and I’m lit/Wouldn’t pay her to wash up my whip (Bye, broke bitch, bye, hoe)”

Iggy doesn’t respond, perhaps because she’s too washed to know what’s going on. Or maybe because she’s gearing up to release her comeback single “Savior,” featuring the Migos’s Quavo during the Super Bowl. Spoiler: it isn’t very good.

November 10, 2018: Makeup artist Anthony Merante asks on Instagram, “Who’s going to see @bhadbhabie on tour?” Iggy Azalea, likely operating under the impression that no one reads Instagram comments, writes a shade-adjacent response (“Are you?”). Bhad Bhabie sees this, because she’s 15 and therefore incontestably better at Instagram than you or I, and comments, “u should come. would be a good memory for u of what a sold out show looks like.” Zing.

November 14-15, 2018: Here’s where the beef gets burned: Bhad Bhabie and Iggy Azalea both attend Cardi B’s Fashion Nova party and at some point during the night, Bhabie throws a drink at Iggy, dampening half of her wig. I hope it was just water because, once again, this is a child.

Azalea then posts an Instagram Story while still at the event. She’s laughing and saying, “Am I just gonna have a half-and-half wig for the rest of the night?” and “What kind of Jerry Springer? What kind of ‘who’s baby is this’, Dr. Phil ass shit? Oh my God. I am a grown-up. I cannot,” over a caption that reads, “So the Dr. Phil girl is really upset about me apparently and thought I’d fight a child?! LOL anyway! The fashion Nova party is LIT!”

In the second half of her story (click through above), Azalea posts while driving home after the party. She says:

“Yo I’m driving home so I have to look at the road but I’ve got a long drive so I want to say this. I get that this little girl has made a name for herself acting a damn fool on television and online, but I’m a grown-up. I’m not about to waste my energy on that shit or be fighting a kid in a club. Come on. I came to get a check. I left with a check. You left with your bags stuffed over there and you look silly. I’m not going to be scrambling around on the floor for a 15-year-old girl on the internet. I have to laugh. I don’t know. I just think people want clout really bad. Mama, good luck with your career. You’re young. You’re going to look back on this and you’re going to really feel dumb. I don’t know. I just think that shit’s lame as hell, but maybe it’s ‘cause I’m a grown-up. I don’t know. Anyway, goodnight, y’all. I’m going home. I’m tired.”

Bhad Bhabie responds in three frames on her own Insta story hours later, writing, “Bye broke bich, Bye hoe”; “ Glad u left wit a bag cuz u certainly ain’t making no money from music anymore”; and finally, “It’s simple. Don’t talk all sorts of shit on the internet n come up to me like u my friend. Some of these hoes like u fake n 2 faced as fuck but I’m NOT that bich.”

Azalea also posted on Twitter at some point during the night in a series of since-deleted tweets captured by XXL:

“I literally was standing there taking pictures wide open no security. Felt water thrown on my wig. Turned around and saw all these people scuffling and screaming – I thought there was a fight in that section. I was confused as fuck about what was going on. Then some fat girl started yelling and my friend raven jumped over a sofa and was tryna fight that fat girl. I saw some red hair and saw it was the Dr Phil girl. I couldn’t hear a thing she said it’s a club and she was far. Then I stood there and was like ‘Nah I’m not leaving from right here until she is removed.’ The security escorted her out. She logged on to the gram from the parking lot I guess to claim her clout for what I don’t know. I stayed and enjoyed the night.”

November 16, 2018: Snoop Dogg gets involved with the beef to show support for Bhad Bhabie while being interviewed on the Big Boy’s Neighborhood radio show. “Bhad Bhabie gangsta,” he says, “[Iggy’s response] was White. That was White, White. I was waiting to hear a ‘Bitch! or ‘Why you didn’t.’ That sounds busterish. Bhad Bhabie gets a point.” He’s forgetting Bhad Bhabie is also white as hell?

November 20, 2018: Iggy goes after Wendy Williams, who accuses her of “developing a blaccent,” saying “she probably bought that where she bought her booty and her boobs. Oh please, that’s coin well spent. She looks great.” Williams ends the segment with, “Listen, Iggy, you’re 28, you’re a grown woman, you’ve got a fledgling career that nobody cares about. This ‘catch me outside’ girl is the next big thing. You should act unbothered by it all. You know why? Because you’re 28 and she’s 15. At 15, they’re all disrespectful. Ugh.”

Azalea, once again in a series of deleted tweets obtained by XXL, writes, “Imagine having to FUCK Wendy Williams. Like you gotta hear her moan and put a titty in your mouth,” and “I guess I just feel like if you’re pushing 60 without ever having lived an entire year on this planet where we could deem you attractive let alone a serve with a voice that would make any dick soft – you should keep it a whole lot cuter on certain commentary.”

December 9, 2018: TMZ publishes a video of Bhad Bhabie answering fan questions at an event in Australia, Iggy’s home base. A woman in the audience asks, “Who is your least favorite celebrity right now?” Bhad Bhabie responds, “Right now?” A chorus from the crowd answers for her with “Iggy… come on!” Bregoli hits back with, “That’s not even really a celebrity.”

Will Iggy heed Wendy Williams’ advice or continue to make offensive comments on Twitter and then quickly delete them? Will Snoop Dogg and Bhad Bhabie collaborate on a diss track? Will I ever find out what type of drink Bregoli threw on Azalea’s wig that fateful November night? Stay tuned.
