Keep your beach reads that threaten to dump sand all over your couch. Summer just makes me want to consume stories about damp, cold, sinister gothic homes. Lucky for me, The Little Stranger is out August 31.

The movie is an adaptation of the 2009 Sarah Waters novel, directed by Roomā€™s Lenny Abrahamson and starring Domhnall Gleeson as a doctor who stumbles into some uncanny doings down at the local stately home. Also in the cast are Ruth Wilson and Charlotte Rampling as the matriarch, which is how you know youā€™re in for some wild shit.

Truly, I cannot imagine a better August afternoon out than sitting in a cool, dark, faded multiplex, watching a ghost story set in a cool, dark, faded mansion.
