Chelsea Peretti, who played the irreverent Gina Linetti on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, announced on Twitter on Wednesday that she won’t be a series regular for Season 6.

Peretti paid a charmingly lazy homage to Emmy Rossum’s recent departure announcement for Shameless, by attaching Rossum’s lengthy, heartfelt goodbye message on Twitter and simply bolding the parts that felt relevant to her (highlights include “I taught Emma to shave her legs” and “I tirelessly prepped the audition with my coach Terry Knickerbocker.”)

Showrunner Dan Goor says this won’t be the last viewers see of her, but for now: au revoir Gina, the Paris of People.
DISCUSSION
I’m going to say it, Gina was my least liked part of the show. Her plotlines went nowhere and they always focused on the worst part of her which was her laying about doing fuck all at the office.
They needed more episodes such as when she schooled Jake on being fiscally responsible and when she taught Holt a lesson about leadership and less “Paris of people” type stuff.
When even Scully and Hitchcock ended up with stronger character development in later seasons it’s no surprise Peretti looked elsewhere.
