Though I barely watched the previous season of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and was unable to finish it, out of boredom (I would much rather spend time on Terrace House), it’s safe to say the Beverly Hills part of the franchise needed a fresh pint of “housewife” blood to keep it fresh. That person will be Denise Richards.
After prior rumors about her joining the cast earlier this summer, Richards confirmed to People on Wednesday that she’ll be joining Season 9 and said she’s been “a huge fan of the show.” She added, “I am looking forward to spending time with all the ladies… and hopefully meeting Boy George!!” (She’s referring to Boy George being a friend of castmate Dorit Kemsley.)
Richards put this out into the universe SEVEN whole years ago, when she told Us Weekly she would definitely join: “Heck yeah I would! It’s one of my favorite shows.”
This is Richards’s destiny, per a source who raved to People: “Denise has been wanting to join the show for a long time… The timing was never right for her in the past, but the producers needed to shake the dynamic of the show up after a season without much conflict. She’s going to be a great fit. She’s not afraid of the drama. And she lives a glamorous, Hollywood life—which the show looks for.”
Richards is already apparently friends with Kyle Richards (no relation) and Lisa Rinna. She’ll have many potential new friends to choose from, including Lisa Vanderpump and Erika Girardi.
