TheeSatisfaction Give Funky 'Recognition' in New Art House Clip

Entertainment

The Seattle duo TheeSatisfaction have released the ultimate throwback Thursday video called “Recognition,” stacking established African American artists like Xenobia Bailey with newer creatives like anti-street harassment painter Tatyana Fazlalizadeh. Get into all of this Afrofuturism.

Directed by Tiona McClodden, “Recognition” is the lead single from TheeSatisfaction’s forthcoming sophomore album earthEE on February 24, according to Okayplayer. The LP will be the follow-up to their 2012 debut, awE NaturalE, which I loved thanks to funky, alternative cuts like “Sweat” and their dream hampton-directed clip for “QueenS” below. Blending vocals, rhymes, off-beat rhythms and genuine creativity, Stasia “Stas” Irons and Catherine “Cat” Harris-White sound like the best college art project.

Bonus: Their homage to Detroit’s R&B queen on TheeSatisfaction Loves Anita Baker is wonderful.
