Watch Kristen Schaal Recreate Natalie Imbruglia's 'Torn' Shot for Shot

Entertainment

Remember how much you loved the Natalie Imbruglia song “Torn” when it was on TV all the time (even though it wasn’t her best work)? Relive your middle school years again with this shot-for-shot remake of the song, starring Kristen Schaal, Kurt Braunohler and featuring music by Mikal Cronin.

The video, which reaffirms the fact that the Imbruglia bob looks good on everyone, is part of a project by JASH that brings musicians and comedians together to make a music video for less than $5,000. According to the YouTube description, artists and comedians can do whatever they like with the money, as long as they come back with a video. Personally, I’d probably use the money for a down payment on one of these creepy play houses for rich children, but that’s probably why I’m not an artist.

Mikal Cronin’s ‘Turn Around” is a striking musical accompaniment to the video (or vice versa), especially because it’s an upbeat folksy piece of pop as opposed to Imbruglia’s song of love lost and drama. I’d say it was an excellent use of the money and suggest that the next musician/comedian partnership focus on a re-shoot of a Jewel masterpiece. “Pieces Of You,” maybe? Or “Foolish Games?”
