Watch the American Idol Performance That Made Jennifer Lopez Cry

There’s not much justice in the world of reality TV, so it’s very possible that La’Porsha Renae, who is by far the most talented and effortless performer to grace the stage of this season of American Idol, will not win. (Despite this season’s preponderance of women at the start, the competition has been whittled down to three men and two women.) Regardless, she’s still performing perfect song after perfect song each night, as Thursday night’s rendition of Mary J. Blige’s “No More Drama” demonstrated.

The song was particularly personal to La’Porsha, we can assume, as it’s about leaving an abusive relationship, which she herself has done. It prompted La’Porsha to break into tears, and she was joined by Jennifer Lopez.

“It takes a lot to overcome, it takes a lot to overcome, it takes a lot of strength to overcome those things in your life. I know, everybody knows, we’ve all been through stuff like that, you know what I mean?” J.Lo said, before calling La’Porsha an inspiration.

J. Lo’s reaction, coupled with Keith Urban’s to Kelly Clarkson, makes this a very teary season. Here’s another great La’Porsha Renae performance from last night, of India.Arie’s “Ready For Love”:

I have the sick feeling that this season is going to be won by Dalton, the anime emo kewpie doll. He isn’t a great singer. At all. He makes Zayn sound like Jeff Buckley. But the judges keep praising him for his “creative arrangements,” which is a nice way of saying that he fucks over every song he performs. Like this brooding, pissy take on NSYNC’s “It’s Gonna Be Me.” He stinks and they just keep licking his butthole.
