The teaser trailer for Season 2 of The Handmaid’s Tale is here and, shockingly, Drake is nowhere to be found in it.

“Wear the red dress, wear the wings,” Offred says, over flashes of fluttering red fabric and shots of the women we’ve come to know as Ofglen, Ofwarren, and the terrifying Aunt Lydia. “Shut your mouth, be a good girl.” It looks like it’s going to be another brutal, chilling season about what very well could be our near future. A future without Drake, that is.

I bring this up only because I remember Margaret Atwood saying very clearly in an interview with Junot Díaz that she wanted to have Drake on the second season of the iconically Canadian show:

Margaret Atwood: Wouldn’t it be fun for [Drake] to have a cameo in season two of The Handmaid’s Tale?

Junot Díaz: Well, there you have it.

MA: There you have it. I’ll drop that notion into the ear of Bruce Miller, the show runner and see what he can do with that, because of course the show is filmed in Toronto. Maybe Drake could help smuggle someone?

Maybe Drake is hiding behind that red cloth? Or creeping under a bed somewhere in Fred’s house waiting to murder all the men and save good girls everywhere through a highly orchestrated uprising?

With or without him, I’m sure the season will be excellent.

I find everything about this show (book) to be so chilling, because I cannot shake the fear, even a year and a half after the 2016 election, that people in very high places in our government are now working to make this the reality.
