The rumor that Jon Hamm is in talks to play Batman is not true, says Jon Hamm.

When asked about it in this kinda awkward interview posted on Wednesday, he said: “I’ve had rumors about that since probably—since season one of Mad Men. I’ve never—I’ve never had a conversation with anybody about it. Literally. And I’ve sat in the rooms with all these guys.”

It’s hard to tell where this Batman rumor originated. A few random sites have suggested Hamm and/or reported that he was “gunning” to replace Ben Affleck. So would he do it?

Hamm was asked by Bensinger if he could imagine himself in the role.

“Sure,” he said. “I mean, sure.”

That means yes?

“I’d probably fit the suit, you know? I have to—I’d have to work out a lot, which I don’t love.”

Or maybe... ?

He also says the internet “wants what it wants,” but he basically sounds like he’d play Batman if it were offered (and it appears no one has)—and if he liked the script—but if not, his life would be fine!

I’ve got an idea: Don’t cast another guy who’s pushing 50 to be Batman. I mean, you don’t even have to do another Batman movie, if you don’t want to. But if you must, abandon Zack Snyder’s stupid obsession with the Dark Knight Returns and cast somebody in his 30s to play the role.
