Man, Fuck David O. Russell

Surprise, surprise! David O. Russell has once again cast 24-year-old Jennifer Lawrence as a middle-aged mom!

20th Century Fox has released the first trailer for Joy, Russell’s upcoming biopic about Miracle Mop inventor Joy Mangano. Mangano invented the Miracle Mop when she was in her mid-thirties (approximately 10 years older than Jennifer Lawrence is now) and supporting her children as a single mother. But hey, why cast an actress of an appropriate age when Lawrence is available to be dowdied up with ‘90s-era blazers and a middle part?

And what do you know! Russell even managed to get the whole gang from Silver Linings Playbook (a movie in which—to be fair—Jennifer Lawrence did not play a 30-something mother, but a 39-year-old widow) back together by casting Bradley Cooper and Robert DeNiro, as well. Great. Very original. Can’t wait.
