The trailer for the Freddie Mercury biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody, is mostly focused on Rami Malek and his many outfits, and reader, that is enough.
Nothing like a small, beautiful man strutting around stage in various jumpsuits to get me excited about a movie. Plus, the entire thing is scored by Queen’s music, electrifying an already vivid world. This trailer is primarily focused on the creation of the titular song, devoting the few lines of dialogue to explaining how there’s an “operatic bit” and the whole thing is too damn long.
As anyone who has gotten tipsy and raucously sung “Bohemian Rhapsody” with their friends knows, it’s actually the perfect length. Very satisfying trailer, and it leaves me hopeful that director Dexter Fletcher was able to pick up where Bryan Singer left off, after Singer was unceremoniously fired for allegedly terrible on-set behavior. Mercury’s boots are stomping away all bad vibes.
