Ryan Murphy's Ball Culture Series Pose Looks Like It'll Deliver on Spectacle

Entertainment

The trailer for Pose, Ryan Murphy’s vision of 1987 New York ballroom culture, has a bit of a Fame vibe, which means it might be a hot summer series worth viewing at home in a nice air-conditioned room.

We first meet the group lunging and posing around their loft before they’re called to attention by the woman I assume is kicking everyone into shape for competition night—“Focus, children. It is time we remind the world who we are.”

The trailer introduces a love triangle, lots of spinning, twirling, boas, gold, and dreams of stardom. It should be noted that the cast features the “largest transgender series regular cast, as well as the largest LGBTQ cast ever for a scripted series,” according to Deadline, including MJ Rodriguez, Indya Moore, Dominique Jackson, Hailie Sahar and Angelica Ross. Evan Peters is also featured. If this is just an entire show of people voguing in Elizabethan costuming, it’ll be fun enough for me.

Pose premieres June 3 on FX.
