“I feel like I’ve been walking down this darker path,” Sabrina Spellman says in the trailer for The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: Part 2. Later, she walks through the woods with what looks like warlock Nicholas Scratch, who appears to be carrying a bloody axe. Obviously, the Netflix Sabrina remake has completely thrown the ’90s sitcom that made people fall in love with the franchise out the window, and is leaning in hard on the morally ambiguous portrayal of a teenage witch. “I can choose to be afraid of my powers, or I can use them,” Sabrina says at one point here—but as she’s exploring her darkest side, she’s also doing the normal teenage thing of going to sexy dance parties and making out in gloomy rooms. The difference this season is that her love interests are Scratch and her mortal boyfriend Harvey Kinkle. Things could get a little complicated.
