The first teaser trailer for author and former Jezebel staffer Lindy West’s six-episode Hulu series Shrill, based on her book of the same name, is here. It looks wonderful and I’m not biased at all!
Starring Aidy Bryant as Annie in what the Hollywood Reporter has dubbed “the story of a fat young woman who wants to change her life, but not her body,” the clip is brief but is enough to establish a key factors: Annie is awkward as hell, dates some weird dudes, has a strange working relationship with her boss and a wonderful one with her best friend.
It’s not much to go off of just yet, but it was enough to cause a face-straining smile to emerge on my typically joyless, Friday afternoon mug.
