Uma Thurman to Star in Netflix's Upcoming Supernatural Heart Transplant Drama

Entertainment

Uma Thurman has signed on for a starring role on Netflix’s forthcoming drama, Chambers, a supernatural story with a medical mystery twist (as the title announces, it’s to do with the heart).

Deadline reported the news on Tuesday, writing that the show “centers on a young heart attack survivor who becomes consumed by the mystery surrounding the heart that saved her life. However, the closer she gets to uncovering the truth about her donor’s sudden death, the more she starts taking on the characteristics of the deceased—some of which are troublingly sinister.” A powerful metaphor for the human capacity to love and adapt after heartbreak? An unflinching depiction of bodily trauma and resilience? A good old fashioned ghost story? I’m intrigued.

Thurman will, according to Deadline, play Nancy, the mother of the heart transplant donor, who grows close to the heart recipient “only to find her daughter may not be as dead as she thought.” She has the range, let’s do this!

Chambers was written and created by Leah Rachel, with Akela Cooper serving as a co-showrunner. Stephen Gaghan, Rachel, Cooper, and Wolfgang Hammer and Winnie Kemp of Super Deluxe are executive producing. The show is comprised of 10 episodes, an hour each.
