K-Pop Act BTS Knocks Taylor Swift Out of the Water With 'Idol' YouTube Debut

Entertainment

Last we reported on the K-Pop group BTS, they were busy clinching the spot as the most famous boy band in the world, sending their lesser Western counterparts weeping into their sculpting gels. Now, their new song, “Idol,” has unseated Taylor Swift for the most YouTube views in 24 hours.

A YouTube spokesperson confirmed to Billboard that the video got more than 45 million views in its first day, smushing the record previously held by Swift for her 2017 single “Look What You Made Me Do.” (Swift’s song only netted a measly 43.2 million views.) BTS holds the first and third-highest music video debuts of 2018, as well as the first and fifth-highest music video debuts of all time.

As of right now, it’s quickly climbing toward 90 million views, which it will probably have surpassed by the time I get around to hitting “publish.” I’ll leave it here for you so you can see what the fuss is about.
